Also, if you have do add a degree symbol to your text on iPhone, how would you do that? In this short post, I will show you how you can quickly type these special characters and symbols on your iPhone without installing any third-party keyboard app.
Using the method shown below you can see and insert accented characters (like é in café), extended punctuation (…), special symbols (°), ligatures (æ), currency symbols (₹) and more, right from your inbuilt iOS keyboard. At the end of this post, I have also listed special characters and symbols which are currently supported.
How to Type Special Characters and Symbols on iPhone or iPad
Step #1. When you are typing in Messages, Notes, Mail etc, touch and hold on the letter, number, or symbol, which has these character(s). See the iPhone special characters list below.
Step #2. You will see that a pop-up selector shows up.

Step #3.Drag your touch to select the desired unique character.
Note: If you leave/lift your touch the pop-up will disappear.
There are a lot of special characters and symbols which are currently supported. In this list below, on the right side of colon (:) is the key you need to press on your iPhone's keyboard to see the symbols that are on the left of colon.

Use common keyboard shortcuts
Most iPad keyboard shortcuts use the Command ⌘ key, like on a Mac. If you're more familiar with a PC keyboard, the Command ⌘ key does the same thing as the Control key on a PC.
Here are some common keyboard shortcuts:
Apple Symbol Stock
- Command-H: Go to the Home screen.
- Command-Space bar: Show or hide the Search field.
- Command-Tab: Switch to the next most recently used app among your open apps.
- Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot.
- Command-Shift-4: Take a screenshot and immediately open Markup to view or edit it.
- Command-Option-D: Show or hide the Dock.

- Open Settings, then tap Accessibility.
